Augusto Quevedo, Mexican Artist 09/30/1980,his interest in Arts beggins at early age, studing sculpture (children category) in 1985 under the supervision the Artist Antonio Álvares Portugal, in 1997 he studies arts at the EIA #3 INBA (national institute of fine arts) during 3 years, after that he beggins the carrier of Visual Arts (ENAP-UNAM), During 1998-2000 co works with the Fanzine Caligari: una alegoria de la locura, he has participated in several collective and indiviudual exhibitions in Mexico City, and now he imparts courses of sculpture in paper (cartonería), he has also colaborated in several escenographys and proyects like the "Hall of Cenobites", "the Seventh Seal" and the performance of the Brazilian Artist Shearley Paes "Cien/sin ambulantes". Today he makes sculpture paintures and works on his proyect "Nacion Alien" (Alien Nation)............................................................
About Alien Nation: this proyect takes it's name and it's signification from the Tv serials and movies from 1980's and early 1990's with an alien tematic, The figure of Alien is taked as an allegory of the "Outsiders", the ones who out of the sistem, the "invaders" from far lands, or the ones who think or act diferent, even if they came from the same culture, This proyect pretends to unite a kind of comunity based on the freedom of being, think or act "diferent", respecting the freedom and the right of existance of the others, figthing against prejudges, considering that in a sense, all of us are "Aliens". The first part of this proyect consist in giving a kind of mask named "Alien Head",to all the ones who agree in the terms of the Alien Nation and are interested in participate in the proyect, the cost of this "Alien Head" is totaly free, except for the condition that the participants must take pictures of themselves with this "head", and send them to the artist (GIVING THE RIGHTS AND THE PERMISION TO THE ARTIST TO PUBLISH AND USE THEM FOR THE BENEFITS OF THE PROYECT, DOING THAT, THE ARTIST WILL RESPECT THE CREDITS OF THE AUTHORY OF THE PICTURES AND PROMISE THAT WILL GIVE THEM A GOOD USE), who later will put them into the pages designed for the proyect and other publications. the Alien Nation pretends to be more a Social Phenomena than an artistic proyect, looking for an interaction with the society and individuals, who are firm collaborators and essencial part of the work, whose help is undispensable for the proyect.
