About
Donna Black is a Contemporary Visual Artist that speaialises in digital and fine art photography. Her work is mostly candid and emotive portrait photography, dealing with “real” people within “real” sitituations and experiences. Donna’s work trys to capture the true nature of personality and emotion in all its raw states without gauzes or moral blindfolds .Thus causing her work to cover a broad spectrum of subjects that always search for the familuar unfamiluars , the brilliantly bizarre and the beautifully brave.
Due to her love of idiosyncratic and anything or one strange Donna is especially interested in people that are within a minority in mainstream society, people that are unique in their own way, and are brave enough not just to follow a certain trend or worry about acceptance and public opinion, and will be whoever and however they wish to be regardless.
“I am also very aware of madness, and the thin line between insanity and pure unadulterated inspiration within creativity and personal clarity as an Artist . Therefore, I use a lot of my own experiences and recollections of episodes of mania and episodes of extreme dark moods within my art. To show the two conflicting sides I use my art to visually explain these differences by alternating between black & white photography, that is very dark and shaded and is reminiscent of isolation, and then very vibrant colourful colour photography, using longer shutter speeds to capture motion and the overall feeling of elation and belonging."
Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary.
