About
Right now I work as a full time instructional assistant for an alternative high school in the Phoenix North West Valley. Before I had this job, I used to be a timid wallflower, and now I have been able to grow. I have been able to speak up and speak my mind, and defend myself without getting emotional. Not only have I helped these students boost their self esteem and doing so, helping their productivity increase. Before this year had started, I would dread coming into work, but now I wonder while I go in, “What will I learn from them today.” Even though I am starting to love this job, I have always wanted to earn a solid living with my visual art. Ever since I was a child, I imagined what it would be like to be a well-known visual artist. Art museums and galleries inspired me; they were like a great piece of literature, transporting me to a different place and time. My favorite pieces of art would stay in my mind’s eye for years and for many years to come. These daydreams would haunt and distract me in grade school; I even imagined living in a hammock in my favorite gallery in my preferred art museum. I plan to transfer to Arizona State University’s Herberger College of the Arts because I want to earn my Bachelors in Fine Art (Printmaking and Art History.
