Numbered tickets to ring the bell distributed at 10 am, one to each family/group; first come, first served.
Bring your loved ones to the Asian Art Museum to literally "ring in" the New Year. Based on the Buddhist custom of striking a temple bell 108 times on New Year's Eve to wipe away the ill luck of the past year, tolling the 2100-lb., 16th c. Japanese bronze bell welcomes the start of a joyous New Year. Then check out the extraordinary exhibition Afghanistan: Hidden Treasures from the National Museum, Kabul.
