Shamans and Smyths are a four-piece hip hop group out of Long Beach, California. Consisting of an M.C., D.J., bassist and a drummer, the group also incorporates a variety of musical samples via the Akai MPC, as well as various percussion instruments. This musical lineup allows for a dynamic and original sound that is topped off by vocalist Zarathustra's vivid and erudite lyrics that range in theme from community building and social-political consciousness to classical mythology and literature. Still relatively new upon the scene, Shamans and Smyths are quickly establishing a reputation as a must-see live act.
