Contract About

As a child I grew up in a pretty common Hispanic family with a older sister and a two loving parents. In my family there was always a competition with my older sister at least it felt that way to me. As time grew and we changed she out shined me when it came to academics .I needed a way to grab my parent's attention and I discovered the way through painting. When I entered into middle school I especially enjoyed my art classes and realized that I was quite successful with my work. So for that reason my mother was pleased and I started to draw subjects that I knew my mother would like so that I could please her further. My first few works were of still life and landscapes but I reached a point where I needed more. I need to come out and truly express myself to my parents and the world so that I may be able to show them just what I am made of. Art allowed me to express my inner thoughts and show my close friends and family what was occurring to me.
This was the first turning point of my young life, once I came to high school I allowed myself to let my inner strengths emerged out. My paintings evolved as the person that I am now came out. A strong individual who speaks his mind...has a heavy opinion on themselves and all that is around him. As I kept yearning for more knowledge I was nominated for New Jerseys Governors School for the Arts and I attended there summer program at the end of my junior year. The program made me grow in my abilities as an artist and experience many valuable lessons that I will never forget. I am certain that these experiences will guide me through college and into the future. This was the first time I ever picked up a camera also and realized how much It appealed to my ever senses.
At this moment im attending the Saturday Outreach Program at Cooper Union and it has shown me to look at my art in so many more ways then expressing myself I have almost a new outlook on this career. I look to art as a way to change society or show what is effecting everyday life now.
