About
I am an artist, friend, citizen, husband, brother, father, son, protector, lover, explorer, student, poet, voyeur, adventurer, baker, entrepreneur, traveler, companion, and, I think, a very old soul. I have been around long enough to have fallen head over heels in love with life but not nearly long enough to have it all figured out.I see and feel beauty with my eyes and soul. I explore it with all my being. With love and passion I bathe it in light and then immortalize it in the photograph. I keep my mind open for new discovery, my eyes open for new opportunity, and my heart open for new friends.
Creating art builds and strengthens my connection to the goodness of humanity and the beautiful world in which we live. Through my works I hope to inspire positive emotions and a sense of gratitude for the beauty that exists in our lives.
Among the tools and media I use in creating art, it is graphite on paper that I have the longest and perhaps most intimate relationship with. My earliest expressions of art were made with a simple pencil and sheet of paper. Though I have embraced other artistic disciplines, drawing with graphite is one of my top choices for creating fine works.
I begin my drawings from life using carefully crafted lighting to compliment the sensual form of my subjects. I complete some drawings from life while others are refined from photos I’ve created using the same lighting and pose. I use a variety of tools and materials to achieve the values and textures that are characteristic of my drawings.
