hi matt, thanks for your comment on my portraits. the people that i selected for my portrait series were malaysian freedom fighters back in the 50s, 60 s period who were fighting for malaysia's independence. there were never honoured for their services because of the believe and different ideologies. they helped the british fought against the japanese during ww2 but when the war was won, they were annouced as traitors by the elected govt. who were at that time were pro british. almost all of these people were sent to jail for many years without trials under the ISA law-(internal security act). stories about these people can hardly be found in the mainstream medias until these days because the media are pretty much controlled by the ruling govt.
